“Angry doesn’t begin to describe what I feel” Iowan says of Sen. Ernst’s Medicaid response

IOWA CITY, Iowa — There is pushback coming from Iowans over Senator Joni Ernst’s town hall Friday.

Someone in the crowd yelled that people will die from proposed Medicaid cuts and Ernst replied “We all are going to die.” She then followed that up by posting a sarcastic apology on social media over the weekend.

Senator Ernst’s comments brought strong reaction from a nurse at the Iowa Veterans Affairs.

Patrick Kearns is a father of two adults on Medicaid and he says the comments from Senator Ernst felt like an attack on his kids. He called her words offensive. “Angry doesn’t begin to describe what I feel about it,” Kearns said.
