Democrats want tax credits for health care included in spending package
The possibility of a government shutdown is putting some who depend on the Affordable Care Act on notice. It could take effect Wednesday unless there’s a deal.
Senate Democrats say they won’t go along unless tax credits for health care are included in the spending package, yet Republicans like Iowa Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks blames the Democrats. “The House has done its job; this is empty rhetoric by the Democrats who their left-wing base is trying to force them into a government shutdown because they don’t like President Trump,” Miller-Meeks said. “We have done our job; we have responsibly funded the government.”
