Our Mission
We are bringing together leading organizations to amplify the voices of people with low incomes and collectively advocate for crucial federal programs — ensuring basic needs for all Americans.
What We Do
We are building an economy that works for all. The cost of living is squeezing everyone, and any of us could be just one paycheck away from a crisis – whether due to job loss, illness, or struggling to keep up with everyday expenses.
Substantial cuts to basic services designed to support us during tough times threatens the well-being of our nation’s children, families, and communities. The Partnership for Basic Needs supports taking care of our neighbors when they need it most.
We are taking action to protect and support programs across the country including:

Health Care
Millions of people across the U.S. — from small towns to big cities — use Medicare and Medicaid for health care coverage. Cuts to these programs’ beneficiaries hurt our families and threaten the health care backbone of our communities.

Food & Nutrition
Hardworking families, small businesses, and local economies are already feeling the pressure of the rising costs of basics like milk and eggs. Cutting funding for programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will further harm our communities, including farmers — what we really need are smart, targeted investments in food and nutrition.

Cost of Living
The rising cost of living and current economic instability is hurting everyone. Making it harder to get income assistance that helps people pay for child care and meet other basic needs means pulling the rug out from people when they need help most.
Protecting all Americans
The One Big Ugly Bill could strip health coverage and other benefits from millions of Americans while imposing costly new requirements on states.
