The Republicans’ Harmful Megabill: Impact by State

The Republicans’ harmful megabill, signed into law this past summer, makes significant cuts to health care, nutrition assistance, and other programs that help families meet basic needs. The legislation includes some of the largest proposed cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in history. About 15 million people will lose their health coverage because of this extreme cut, making it impossible for those with serious health conditions to afford life-saving medications or go to a doctor when they’re sick. Between the law’s enaction in July 2025 and December 2025, SNAP participation nationwide also fell by 2.5 million. Find more information on the impact on each state below:
